WELCOME TO THOMAS ELEMENTARY!

The mission of the Gretna Public Schools is the  “undeniable acceptance of all students and to maximize their potential”, which is the heart of what we do each day with our children.  This is a constant focus that we  strive to accomplish and we will do everything in our power to ensure that ALL students get what they need.

Thomas Elementary continues to build and work from its Multi-Tiered-Systems of Support or MTSS foundational approach to help ensure our mission statement is lived out each day.   Here at Thomas we want to focus our attention on proactively teaching our students not only in the academic area, but also in the behavioral and social/emotional learning areas.  Our team has created a common building-wide behavior matrix, which helps to provide clear and  consistent expectations for our students.  Through the use of these expectations, our goal is to positively recognize our students for following expectations, rather than only negatively redirecting them.  This includes the use of specific positive feedback around the building, with a goal of 4:1 positive/proactive statements to negative/reactive statements for ALL students.
